On 9th October 2014, 105 Students (70 students from III Semester Information Technology Department and 35 Students from III Semester Computer Science & Engineering Department) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon visited Huawei Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd., Sector 39, Gurgaon, Haryana.

The purpose of this Industrial visit was to introduce students with various networking concepts like Wireless Telecom (2G/3G/4G), IP - Datacom (Routers, switches, Security & Firewall), Networks (Access, Optix, & Microwave) & Cloud Computing.

The topics discussed in the program were History of Fixed Broadband Access (ADSL/FTTH) Wireless Broadband Access (Mobile internet / MMS / Mobile newspaper ) Transmmission & IP Network Cloud Computing etc. Then they were taken for site visit. After successful passing of this training program, student will get “HCIG – Huawei Certified ICT Graduate-Associate ” certificate. The 6 months training program is HCIG - Professional. After successful passing of the same, student will get “HCIG – Huawei Certified ICT Graduate-Professional” certificate. In this course, students will be exposed to end to end Information & Communication Technologies including Datacom, Wireless, Cloud, Transmission etc. This course has 3 months classroom training & 3 months OJT with Huawei Engineer. HCIG certification validates the knowledge and skills required for ICT industry entry level knowledge and complete basic overview which includes Core Network (CS, PS, IMS) Transmission Network, IP-Data Communication Network, Cloud Computing Fundamentals and Wireless Broadband Access (MBB/ LTE/ WIFI). These courses increase one’s chances of employability.

The trainer discussed about H.I.T (Huawei 6 Week Industrial Training Program) This is an Associate certification which validates the entry level knowledge and skills and provides the Industry's basic overview. This course is best suited for 2nd/3rd year Engineering students. H.I.T. curriculum includes following topics like Communication history, Full-service communication network, FBB, MBB, MAN, Transport network and data network etc.

The visit was very enriching for students as they became aware of their future prospects and the trainings offered by the company. The students were also given live demonstration of how one signs into MSC and finds out the operator of a BTS. Such visits are motivational to make the future technocrats familiar with the working environment of an industry and help them to relate the theory that they learn in classrooms to its practical implementation.
