Microsoft Imagine-Cup 2015

 
 

Microsoft India organized the event Imagine Cup 2015 inviting National finalists from student software developers held at NGF College, Palwal on 22nd & 23rd April 2015.

Four students from Dronacharya College of Engineeirng, Gurgaon of namely Ayushi Mishra, Chetna Mahajan, Chirag Gulati, Gaurav Verma participated in the event as a India finalist. CSE Dept. faculty Mr. Tanupriya Choudhury also attended this event as a delegate from Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon.

Currently in its thirteenth year, Imagine Cup is a global student technology programme and competition that provides opportunities for students across all disciplines to team up and use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to create applications, games and integrated solutions that can change the way we live, work, and play. The Imagine Cup comprises five major technology competitions, including competitors create projects that address the Imagine Cup theme: “Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems.” Imagine Cup 2015 consists of five competitions, including: Games Competition, Innovation Competition, & World Citizenship Competition.

From Dronacharya College of Engineering the presentation was in World Citizenship Competition and topic was ‘Helping Anopsia’ which is mobile phone software that provides the user with real-time experience of reading the text with the help of narration in a way which encourages the blinds to read and not to feel indifferent.

Commenting on the caliber of the teams in the India-leg of the Imagine Cup 2015, Joseph Landes, General Manager, Developer Experience and Evangelism, Microsoft India, said, “It is rewarding to see this year’s talented young innovators develop ground-breaking technology solutions to address world challenges and create a bright future in a mobile-first, cloud-first era. From the initial online stage of this year’s competition to the India Finals, it has been amazing to see the passion and commitment among young Indian technologists and their enthusiasm to change the world. I heartily congratulate the winners as well as all the students who participated in Imagine Cup 2015. I’m really rooting for the India team to win big at this year’s Global Finals and bring the Cup home to India”.

The winning teams were awarded for their innovative solutions to address everyday challenges. Team Turing developed a solution to assist ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) patients in communicating with others, while Team Aether developed an innovative gaming solution to raise consciousness on waste management and Team Eyeluminati developed a device to aid visually-impaired persons with mobility. This year, 13,900 students participated from 25 states across India in the contest. Of these, 29 teams were shortlisted for the National Finals.
