EMERGING RESEARCH TRENDS IN ENGINEERING

Ms. Amninder Kaur Associate Professor and Ms. Anshul Vats Assistant Professor from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a two- day workshop on ‘Emerging Research Trends in Engineering ’sponsored by CSIR, India and organized by ‘IET, Ahmedabad University’ in association with IEEE Gujarat Section at ‘Ahmedabad Management Association’ from 19th to 20th July 2014 .

This workshop was organized with an objective to introduce, discuss emerging and challenging research issues in the domain of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology. It also provided a platform to young researchers to enhance their knowledge in the state-of-the-art research in the field of computer vision and image processing.

The distinguished speakers Prof. Harrick Vin Vice President and Chief Scientist, TCS Pune; Prof. Chetan Parikh, IET-AU; Prof. A.S Ranade, IET-AU; Prof. Nagendra Gajjar, Nirma University; Dr. D. Manjunath, IIT Bombay; Prof. Anirban Dasgupta, IIT Gandhinagar; Prof. M.V Joshi DA-IICT, Gandhinagar covered relevant topics like Image Processing and optical character recognition system for Indic scripts, Wide band-gap semiconductor device sand technology for high speed applications, Future of Enterprise IT, Trends in Engineering Research, How to write a research proposal.

The workshop has been very beneficial as the participants learnt five major areas i.e. digitization of cultural heritage, digital management in the cultural heritage preservation, restoration techniques for rigid solid relics, restoration techniques for paintings and digital museum and also got an opportunity to interact with the academicians from different areas of technology.
