TEQIP-II Sponsored Short Term Course on Medical Signal Processing

&

Its Interpretation held on 23rd-27th Dec. 2013 by Dr. B.R Ambedkar National

Institute of Technology, Jalandhar

 

Ms. Amninder Kaur, Asso. Prof. ECE Department, Gurgaon attended a five day TEQIP-II sponsored Short Term Course on “Medical Signal Processing & its Interpretation” organized by Dr. B.R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar from 23rd – 27th Dec 2013.

The Technical Education Quality Improvement Program aimed to upscale and support ongoing efforts of GOI to improve quality of technical education and enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become responsive to rapid economic and technological developments occurring both at national and international levels. The course contents covered the basics of Human Physiological Systems, Bioelectrical Signals and their Acquisition, Basics of Medical Signal Processing, Analysis, Interpretation for correlating them with specific features related to disease classification and Clinical Applications.

In the inaugural session the course coordinator Dr. R.K. Sankaria welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Gurmeet kaur, Civil Surgeon, Jalandhar and all the participants. The session included lecture by Dr. R.K Sankaria on “Heart Rate Variability and ECG Signal Acquisition and Analysis.” After the theory session Dr. Deepti Mittal, Assistant Professor, Thappar University briefed about the BPST Lab and application of HFSS software.

On second day, a revision session on ‘Heart Rate and Blood Pressure Variability’ by taken Dr. Dilbagh Singh, Associate Professor, NIT Jalandhar. On third day, Dr. Ajat Shatru Arora Professor & Head, EIE , SLIET, Longowal delivered a lecture on “EMG signal and its application to Development of Control Strategies Prosthetic Hand.” On fourth day, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Director, NIT Delhi delivered a lecture on “Wireless Sensor Networks.” In post lunch session Professor (Dr.) B. S. Kaith, Registrar, NIT Jalandhar delivered a lecture on “Role of Neurotransmitters on Biological Systems of Organisms.” On fifth day, Dr. S.K. Sinha, Associate Professor of Textile Dept., NIT Jalandhar delivered a talk on “Wearable –E-Textiles.” The workshop ended with valedictory function and distribution of certificates.
