LIBRARY AUTOMATION: ISSUES AND REMEDIES

Mr. Sarjiwan Dass, Deputy Librarian of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented his paper titled “Use of Internet for Library Professionals” in a two-day National Seminar on Library Automation: Issues and Remedies (NSLAIRPS- 2014), organized by Department of Library & Information Science, Aggarwal College, Ballabgarh from 28th to 29th March 2014. The Seminar was sponsored by ICSSR, Northern -Western Regional Center, Punjab University, Chandigarh.

The Seminar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. Ramesh Chand Gaur, Librarian Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi and the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mange Ram, Dayal Bagh University, Agra (UP).

The technical sessions were chaired by Dr. Rishi Kumar Tiwari, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida; Prof. Projesh Roy, Shaheed Rajguru College, University of Delhi; Dr. Priya Rai, National Law University, New Delhi; Dr.K.P. Singh, Additional Director, DRDO, New Delhi; Sh. P.N. Bajpai, YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad;. Dr. Selak Chand, Election Commission Govt. of India; Dr. Nabi Hasan, from IIT, New Delhi; Dr. Shamkant J. Deshhmukh, Nutan Maratha College; Dr. Satyaprakash, Maharaja Agarsain College, University of Delhi.

The speakers laid emphasis on promoting usage of e-resources in teaching and research through ILS. Dr. Vinod Gautam, National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad emphasized the issues, challenges and future of e-books.

The seminar was educative and relevant to know how to use e-learning, MOOCs and other remedies for library automation.
