CLOUD COMPUTING

A one day Seminar on “Cloud Computing” in collaboration with CSI was organized in Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 13th Feb 2014. Mr. Aurbind Sharma, from TED enlightened and shared ideas on latest technical prospects as required by the corporate world under modern software engineering technologies.

He also disclosed the simple definition of cloud computing that it is the new way of delivering information technology solutions (IT) as a service.

Cloud services allow individuals and businesses to use software and hardware that are managed by third parties at remote locations. Examples of cloud services include online file storage, social networking sites, webmail, and online business applications.

The cloud computing model allows access to information and computer resources from anywhere that a network connection is available. He also talked about the Cloud computing provides a shared pool of resources, including data storage space, networks, computer processing power, and specialized corporate and user applications.

Further, he discussed about the following models available for cloud computing service:

1. Software as a Service (SaaS): A pre-made application, along with any required software, operating system, hardware, and      network are provided with this model

2. Platform as a Service (PaaS): An operating system, hardware, and network are provided, and the customer installs or      develops its own software and applications

3. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): It provides just the hardware and network; the customer installs or develops its own      operating systems, software and applications.

The seminar was informative for all participants. The hands on seminar were based on example based models which helped us understand the concepts and relate them accordingly.

After completion of the seminar Honorable Principal and HOD’s has given a Momentum to Mr. Aurbind Sharma for sharing his views with students and our faculties.
