INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION POLICY |

An International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation Policy was jointly organized by Zaheer Science Foundation and UNESCO, New Delhi at Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi from 27th - 29th November 2014. The conference was supported by center for International Co-operation in Science, Chennai. Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the conference and interacted with delegates who came from various parts of the World. They discussed over various relevant topics and their practical applications and usefulness.

A large number of delegates from Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America, South America and Russia participated in the conference. |
Dr. T. Ramasami, Former Secretary Department of Science and technology, Government of India, New Delhi was the chief guest at the conference. In his inaugural address he suggested the scientists to work out for research program on regional cooperation in Science and Technology, especially in the field of Information Technology, Energy, Environment, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Health Services.

Dr. Shigeru Aoyagi, Regional Director, UNESCO representative Cluster office for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, New Delhi office, Dr. G. Thyagarajan, former Director, CSIR and Dr. Mohsin U. Khan, coordinator of conclave and secretary of Zaheer Science Foundation, New Delhi also express their views over the theme of the conference. To consider various aspects for cooperation and coordination among scientists of the region the Member of Parliament in South Asia and Southeast Asia region dealing with Science Policy also participated in the conference. |
The conclave in broader sense was to encourage regional cooperation in science and technology for the advancement of South Asia and South East Asia region. Researchers, academicians, Member of Parliaments from Asia and Pacific region, people from industry and government departments were also invited to share their experiences, knowledge and research. With the foresight, growth, roadmaps, sectoral impact assessment and alliances through conference the panelists got a platform to express, define and interface between Science and Society. Various research perspectives were also included in the program. |
During the conference and session on various topics and areas a number of delegates interacted and shared for future courses and improvement of their research work. |
Number of the eminent speakers and delegates gave stress on steps as India has emerged as a focal point in the field of science, technology and higher education followed by its economic development. |
On the closing day of the conference Dr. Torsti Loikkanen, Senior Research Scientist, VTT Technical Research Centre, Finland highlighted a novel dimension in technology and Innovation policies applicable for all. |
Prof. Zahid H. Khan, FTK Centre for Information Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi briefed about the Innovations through teaching and learning in science and technology in the Digital Age for economic and ecological development. Dr. Tabassum Jamal, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR, NISTADS, New Delhi stressed over the idea of Building National Capability through science and technology and Innovation Policies- opportunities and challenges in developing countries. |
Dr. Jaime Jimenez, member of the ISA Executive Committee IIMAS, UNAM, Department of Mathematical Modeling of Social Systems, Mexico in his presentation highlighted overall scientific and technological development with new innovative ideas. Hon. Eng. Kafeero Ssekitoleko Robert, MP, vice chairperson Parliamentary Committee, Science and Technology Member Physical Infrastructure Committee, Parliament Avenue, Kampala Uganda discussed on Global Perspective on science and technology. |
Dr. G.Thyagarajan, former Director, CSIR, New Delhi in his closing remarks said that the fast developing stage through Science, Technology and Innovation with cooperative policies which is applicable to every country. |
