TOKYO INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCES - 2014

Tokyo International Conference on Engineering and Applied Sciences (TICEAS-2014) was organized by Higher Education Forum, Japan from 17th - 19th December 2014 at Tokyo. Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad, from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the conference. He was the session chair for the event on Fundamental and Applied Sciences - I on 18th December 2014. He also presented his paper on Anomalous Dispersion of Microstructure fiber laser Based on Intracore High-Energy Femtosecond.

The Conference was inaugurated by members of Higher Education forum, Japan. Keynote speech on Natural Sciences was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Drew Hwang, Professor, Computer Information Systems, California state Polytechnic University, Pomona, USA on the topic of “Web Application Security in the Cloud”. He explained that today’s web platform offers more risks to expose corporate programs and data from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, destruction, modification and disruption. With the rise of cloud computing, organizations have become accustomed to subscribing to web applications – Microsoft Office 365 for office apps, Salesforce.com, Adobe creative cloud etc. Some have even considered moving their business web applications to the cloud. This presentation analyzed the fundamental differences between web applications and cloud based web applications, evaluated risks associated with web applications running in and out a cloud, and addressed issues in the planning and deployment of the migration.

Another Keynote speech on Social Science was delivered by Prof. Adriana Edwards Wurzinger, Saitama University, Center for English Education and Development (CEED), Japan. She briefed the Sociology of Identity and Human Emotions, Micro- expressions and facial Coding System, Sociology of migrations, Social Anthropology of Identity, History of the Witch-Craze in the late Middle Ages, Renaissance Slavery History, Global Migration History, Conflict Resolution, Public Speaking Training and Drama. Delegates from USA, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and India participated and presented their papers in various oral sessions.

Prof. (Dr.) B.M.K. Prasad in his presentation briefed about fiber laser and said that even after increasing the number of scientific and industrial applications the sources of ultrashort laser pulses have become a versatile tool. The systems have difficulties out of the laboratory environment in spite of outstanding performance of passively mode-locked solid state lasers only because of bulky elements and free-space propagation inside the cavity. Fiber based sources have the possibility to generate laser radiation in completely integrated manner, hence developing compact, inexpensive, misalignment free and environmentally stable short pulse lasers. In fact, passively mode-locked single-mode rare-earth-doped fiber lasers are now operated largely and are entering the market on the ground over real world applications.

Prof. Prasad also told that femtosecond fiber lasers have been developed with ever-increasing performances in terms of pulse duration and energy now. The demonstration of the generation of high energy ultrashort pulses in an Yb droped large operating in the anomalous dispersion regime is important for all.

During the conference and session on various topics and areas a number of delegates interacted and shared for future courses and improvement of their research work.

Various areas and fields through the oral and poster sessions were covered as per schedule. Participation of young research scholars in large number was highly appreciable. They presented their research papers in the respective field and areas. Mentors and Guides were also present along with the young research scholars.

At the end of the sessions Best Paper Award was presented jointly to researchers from Loyola University, Chicago, USA and University of Malaysia and their work was declared outstanding by a team of Higher Education Forum, Japan.
