IDUSTRIAL VISIT

An industrial visit was arranged by the Mechanical Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon on 21st November 2014 to Hero Motocorp Ltd. at Dharuhera for 42 students of IIIrd and VIIth semester. Faculty members Ms. Preeti Gulia, B.L. Tudu and Kuldeep Sangwan accompanied the students.

Hero Motocorp Ltd. is the world’s largest two wheeler manufacturer company. Dharuhera plant produces nearly 7000 bikes per day i.e. approximately 18 second for one bike.

Mr. Ravi Sinha, General Manager (Human Resource) and Mr. Pulkeet Mittal, Assistant Manager at Hero Motocorp Ltd. demonstrated the new extension assembly shop of the factory. Mr. Sinha gave a brief introduction of Hero Motocorp Ltd. and it’s plants. He explained about the different aspects of the factory i.e. from the production processes up to manpower management.

In the assembly shop, various operations viz Fitment of Parts for Continuous Production and final testing of bikes were explained to the students. They were shown different parts of engine and their operation. Time management, that helps in assembly line balancing for various assembly operations on each assembly station were explained to the students by Mr. Pulkeet Mittal. For this Robots and conveyors are used to move the parts to next assembly station. Electric Rickshaw is used for handling of heavy materials.

The industrial visit helped the students to get a proper insight about the production process in an automobile industry. Students were immensely benefited from the visit.
