DELNET-2014

Prof. B.M.K Prasad, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the DELNET Annual Lecture program on personalizing libraries and their access by Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Sancheti, President (Vice Chancellor) Manipal University, Jaipur, organized by DELNET – Developing Library Network and IIC-India International Centre on 08th February 2014 at IIC, New Delhi. The objective of the event was to create awareness about the initiatives taken by DELNET to provide online services to about 5000 Libraries on network for better services to the users.

The program commenced with the Welcome Speech by Dr. H. K. Kaul, Director, DELNET. He highlighted the IT revolution of library applications which provide the mode of education through virtual knowledge directly or indirectly.

Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, in his address reminded the Library of any institution as a back bone of the institute for users, promoters and even those who do not belong to the domain area. He imparted the technical know-how to the participants for installation, customization & running of various library applications. He emphasized that electronic digitalization of library has led to easier and faster circulation, administration, generation for functioning, stock, etc. Users can be allowed to integrate or disintegrate access personalized with data size, format size, originality, liability and very important with controlled and desired access. He concluded with the remark that people involved in the library system should not be slave of the technology but should use the technology judiciously.

The program came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. H. K Kaul, Director, DELNET.
