ONE-DAY SEMINAR ON “CYBER FORENSICS”

 

Electronics & Computer Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a Seminar on “Cyber Forensics” on 15th October 2013 in association with Lucideus Tech. Private Limited, New Delhi.

       

The student coordinators, Vijay Kumar Arora (Roll No14630) and Neelima Saini (Roll No 15723) welcomed the guest speaker Mr. Rahul Tyagi, Associate Vice President of Lucideus Training, who is an expert in web security and analysis and has galore of experience in ethical hacking training, cybercrime investigation and penetration testing.

       

Mr. Tyagi addressed the students and explained them the importance of cyber security and awareness in the modern era by illustrating a few good instances of cyber crime cases that happened recently. He also talked aboutthe age old methodology of embedding secret messages under image files known as ‘Steganography’. He explained the Indian Cyber Laws particularly section 94 (IT Act 2000), Sections 66-C & 66-D (IT Act 2008) which have the provisions of imprisonment, if hacking is done without permission or for wrong intensions.

       

He introduced the participants to the family key logger which is used to catch not only passwords but all the work that the user does on the system. It can be used to monitor the contents being surfed by the kids on internet by their guardians. He also explained the process of checking the strength of the passwords by checking it online through a website named as www.howsecureismypassword.com. He unveiled his company’s product named “LUCIDROID” which has the potential, when installed in a mobile phone, to track the location of the owner,in fact one can control and coordinate the phone from afar making the phone as one’s own instrumentand it also cannot be detected by any kind of antivirus.

       

Around 200 students from various branches (ECS, CSE, IT & ECE) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the seminar.
