CEBE-2013

Dr. R.C. Sharma, Professor, Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon presented a research paper on the topic “ Utilization of Thorium Resources in meeting the Energy needs of India” in a two- day International Conference on “Chemical, Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering” (CEBE-2013) organized at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on December 21st-22nd, 2013. In his deliberation he explained the energy needs in future, resource position of thorium in India and worldwide, thorium as nuclear fuel, nuclear reactor suitable for use of thorium as fuel and environmental aspects of nuclear energy. His paper is also selected for the publication in International Journal of Applied Engineering Research (ISSN 0973-4562) Vol. 8, Number 18th, 2013.

Inaugurating the conference Dr. S.K. Acharya, Professor, Agricultural University Kalyani ,West Bengal expressed the need of sustainability of the environment from man-made perturbation through Bioprocess Engineering.

The eminent academicians including Dr. Vachaspati Mishra Professor, Lovely Professional University; Dr Anita Kaushik, Scientist, Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi; Dr. Brij Bihari singh, University of Delhi; Dr. Sneh Gangwar, Aditi Mahavidyalya, Delhi University; Prof. Uttam K. Pati, Department of Bio-Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi etc shared their views on various topics related to physical and chemical characterization of yard waste, weather based agro indices, environment and energy, phase change materials and potential applications, Alcohol production from fruits and vegetable waste, Application of vacuum membrane distillation for fluoride removal, Bioprocess Engineering, nano-materials etc.

The conference was concluded by Dr. G.C. Mishra, Organizing Secretary of CEBE-2013. The conference was highly innovative, application - oriented and informative covering the research aspects of chemistry, environment, bioprocess engineering and energy.
