Young Scientist during Advitiya at IIT Ropar

23rd March 2017

IIT Ropar organized a competition “Young Scientist” during its annual techno - management festival Advitiya 2017 on 23rd of March, 2017. The competition was organized to provide a competitive platform for students in the field of development. Four students, Abhimanyu Kumar (17002), Srishti Syal (17027), Priyanka Mogha (17106), Mrigank Suryavanshi (17181) from Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the competition and secured first position.

To ignite the young minds and unearthing their hidden potential, IIT Ropar organized the first edition of its technical festival, Advitiya. It had been established with the motto of providing a platform to the technical enthusiasts to explore and innovate and showcase their technical and engineering prowess. The entire fest was distributed over a period of a three days that witnessed a plethora of fun events, workshops, exhibitions and games.

“Young Scientist” was a project competition for undergraduate students of science and engineering colleges. During the competition students were asked to demonstrate their project. The basic requirement was the working model of their project or application.

Students had to first explain their project and then demonstrate the working prototype. To strengthen the competition and increase its level, technical questions were asked. Along with this the students were asked to explain the benefits of project in future. Other participants were allowed to raise any kind of query related to the project. There were many participants from different colleges and everyone had a unique idea implemented by different technical languages.  The main points which were highlighted to win the competition were Good Idea, Scope of the app in future, Beneficial to technical world, and Working model.

The team “The Dreamers” from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon won the first prize in “Young Scientist” during Advitiya.

The project of team “The Dreamers” was ‘Server Automation which was about connecting multiple servers in a data center, installing software and then configuring them in all the agent servers with the help of master server in a single run. This had been achieved by running a ruby script on each and every agent server with the help of master server. In the project students had also assigned certificates during connection establishment or during handshaking between two devices.

It was a great learning experience for the students and made them familiar with new technologies and ideas in the field of engineering.
