INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an Industrial visit to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd., Sonipat on 16th February 2015. Mr. Tanupriya Choudhury, faculty incharge from the Department accompanied a total of 43 students of CSE Department on the visit.

Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd. is a 50-50 joint venture between Yakult Honsha, Japan and Groupe Danone, France, both of which are global pro-biotic leaders. The joint venture was formed in 2005 to manufacture and sell probiotic products in Indian market. Yakult, a probiotic drink was launched in India in 2007 and presently available in Delhi, NCR, Nasik, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. Yakult is manufactured at an ISO 9001:2008, HACCP and OHSAS 18001:2007 certified manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana in India. Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd was awarded the jury award for emerging company of the year in 2011 by Frost & Sullivan. This award signifies the company’s identification of solutions with long-term sustainability as a final objective, while presenting tremendous market potential simultaneously.

As a pioneer in pro-biotic, Yakult has formidable research capabilities and product technologies. Yakult central institute for microbiological research has for years researched the use of intestinal bacteria as a factor in health maintenance, conducting a wide range of studies on the benefits of microorganisms in Japan and India. Yakult’s benefits have been scientifically established through years of research and 30 million people in more than 30 countries drink Yakult every day.

The objectives of the visit were to facilitate the students to gain first-hand information regarding functioning of the company and to provide theoretical knowledge with real time practice of the company. This visit also provided an opportunity to the students to interact with the corporate executives who shared their experiences enabling the students to have the real sense of the current industrial scenario.

Students were accompanied by Mr. Yogesh & Mr. Vikas, Executive -Public Relations, at Yakult DANONE India Pvt.Ltd, Rai Sonepat to the Seminar Room where they were shown a brief presentation about the Company profile, distribution channel, and production process and how Yakult is producing such a complex processed product. The students were also informed about the various stages of production like mixing, sterilization, fermentation, blending, injection molding, filling/sealing, packaging, storage etc. These stages were explained by the production executive in detail.

The visit was fairly informative and useful for the students and they experienced the industry working environment and code of conduct.
