MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES |

Prof. B.M.K Prasad from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a Special Session on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on 16th June, 2014 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. organizedby Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) .Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in his inaugural speech said that for the growth of Indian Economy and for generating employment we need to focus on technologies so that we can face the competition with national and international level and we should know how to work sincerely and honestly. He briefed that CII is working closely with the two Inter- Ministerial Committees towards the implementation of the various recommendations in consultation with the relevant Ministries in the Government of India to adopt a coordinated approach for accelerating manufacturing and export growth. |

Over presentation on confederation of Indian Industry Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Agenda, Mr. T.T. Ashok, Co-Chairman, CII, National Small and Medium Enterprises highlighted about country’s round table snapshot view with constant growth value addition of various departments, more effective export creation with a lot common of facilities and upgradation of new centers across the country. He alsostressed on globalIntellectual Property Rights (IPR), Enterprises and Support, Labor law and long term recommendation infrastructures. He also gave information about International Opportunities for Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through a survey by the Economic Intelligence Unit. Many European Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) are looking for collaboration in emerging markets, especially with Indian SME to increase their global footprint, to find a new customer base and alleviate the sluggish growth of the sector in their country. |

Mr. MadhavLal, Secretary Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises briefed about recommendations of a committee headed by him which includes unlocking more than 30,000 vacant plots in established Industrial estates to MSME Manufacturing activities; encouraging the state Governments to identify mid- sized land parcels close to the urban areas which may be developed with public funding and providing first generation manufacturing startups, in particular, with well- developed manufacturing facilities on lease. |

Addressing as a Chief Guest Mr. Kalraj Mishra, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, said through the resources available we can sort out the problem of un employment, poverty and backwardness. In an organized way with integrated level, backwardness of the society can be removed. The people of poor background and some capitalist can take some steps for maximum agricultural product and set up small scale industry. Being a large, populated, big country with increase in self-confidence, maximum number of people can be encouraged to open small scale industries. There is a need for skill development inrural as well as urban areas because the confidence with self- reliance which is the strength of any country is a big support for further economic growth of the country.

The ministry has a number of programs to help and assist entrepreneurs and small business. Interested entrepreneurs may contact National Institute for Micro, Small and medium Enterprises (NI- MSME), Indian Institute of entrepreneurship (IIE) or the Development Commissioner (DCMSME) for details about their programs. For the existing entrepreneurs who want to improve their competitiveness, they may contact DC, MSME who can be of assistance in various ways. If some people want to set up a village industry or want to know more about Khadi or Coir Products, they may contact KVIC or Coir Board. |

Mr. Mishra informed that the Ministry of MSME encourages and honors innovation and enterprises. It works in close coordination with the state Governments, Industry Association, Banks and other stakeholders through our numerous field offices and technical institutions to help the engines of growth throughout the country. |

In his closing remarks Mr. Deep Kapuria, immediate past Chairman, CII, National SME Council and Co- Chairman, CII, National Trade Fair Council said that the future of Indian SME lies not only inside the country but even the overseas market is looking bright, as both the national government and the industry are trying to push the sector onto the global platform by addressing the basic concerns of the sector as MSME are major job creators. On his concluding note, he said that the focus is not only on the economic success of the country but also in creating an equitable society. |
