Paper Presentation In Socpros’15 International Conference On Soft Computing For Problem Solving

The International Conference on Soft Computing for Problem Solving (SocProS’15) organized by Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) in collaboration with “Springer” at Saharanpur Campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT - R) from 18th - 20th December 2015. Ms. Priyanka Mahani, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented her paper titled “Classification of Texture Images (Using Neuroph Studio)” in Track 26 - Soft Computing for Environmental Applications and Remote Sensing. The proceedings will be published as a book chapter by Springer.

SocProS15 aimed at bringing together researchers, engineers and practitioners to present the latest achievements and innovations in the interdisciplinary areas of soft computing, to discuss thought-provoking developments and challenges, to consider potential future directions. The Conference was a joint effort of 4 universities – IIT-R, NIT Silchar, South Asian University and Liverpool Hope University.

The Conference began with the Inaugural ceremony and the welcome address was delivered by Prof Vinod Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT - Roorkee in which he discussed about the definition of Soft Computing and it’s need and significance. This was followed by a speech from Mr Kedar Nath Das, Joint Secretary, Organizing Committee who introduced to the gathering the Guest of Honour, Prof Chandra Mohan. The Conveners of the Conference - Dr Millie Pant, Prof. Kusum Deep and Prof Atulya Nagar presided over the function. Dr Kaushik Saha, Director R & D, Samsung Electronics, New Delhi was the esteemed Chief Guest at the event. He talked at length about the importance of Soft computing techniques from the industrial perspective. Dr Y.S. Negi, Professor - In - Charge for the Conference showed a video detailing about the Saharanpur campus, its history, the departments and facilities at the campus and much more. The 3 days of the conference were divided into 30 tracks. Each day had presentations in 10 tracks. There were also 4 Keynote sessions taken by esteemed guests from abroad.

The Session in which Ms. Priyanka Mahani presented her paper was Chaired by : Dr. K. K. Singh and Dr. Akansha Singh. 5 papers were presented in this track.

It was overall a great experience to be part of a conference like this and meet people from around the world who shared similar interest.
