VALUE ENGINEERING SEMINAR 2009

DCE’s always-on-the-move attitude makes its Academic Calendar flutter year after year and its various Departments make a sneak peep into innovations to enhance, enrich and strengthen the educative-cum-industrial experience through Seminars, workshops/ conferences. Exposure to new vistas of knowledge is steadily aimed at to whet the skills of Faculties and resultantly that of the students. The month of July happens to be the most appropriate time of the year for Seminars and other knowledge enhancing programmes, since the Faculties are almost free from the lecture-lords and are gearing up for getting equipped with in-depth studies of their respective area of study to cater to the needs of the classes in the new session. With this view in mind a Seminar was held on 7th – 8th July, 2009 nomenclatured as Value Engineering the prestigious patronage of Principal Dr. B. M. K. Prasad, under the commendable convener ship of the Dean Academics, Prof. Onkar Singh and seasonal co-convership of Prof. D. S. Sharma and Prof. H. S. Dua, respective Heads of Mechanical and Electronics Department. Ms. Richa Singh actively acted as the co-coordinator of this well devised Programme.

Value Engineering is a creative and cost-oriented technique. Its primary aim is to analyze the function of a product, service or a system with the sole purpose of achieving the target at the lowest overall cost.

Performance, quality, reliability and appearance are the special considerations in Value Engineering. The system aims at reducing costs and yet sustains the quality and enhances the quantity of the product. Various speakers expressed their views in support of Value Engineering and some of the participants from DCE and from other colleges across the State presented valuable papers on the subject. The inter-active session proved highly stimulating for the participants and knowledgeable for the intensely interested audience. The participants received Certificated from the Hon’ble Principal.
