INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO ROAD OVER BRIDGE

Department of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon under the banner of AGI (Association of Geospatial Industries) organised an Industrial Visit to Road Over Bridge at Basai Dhankot Railway Tracks, Dwarka Expressway on 22nd and 28th February 2017.  37 students of IV semester and 56 students of VI semester , Civil Engineering Branch along Mr. Rikshit Kumar and Mr. Ravinder Kumar, Faculty Coordinator, DCE, Gurgaon visited the site.

Dr. Satyavir Malik, Managing Director, Pragati Construction Consultants, received the group and gave a brief introduction. Mr. Deepak Kumar, Engineer In-charge coordinated with the students during the visit and explained various concepts related to the execution of bridge including advantages and disadvantages of various construction materials.

Additionally, students are briefed with various components of Bridge such as

Foundation (pile, raft) includes composition of concrete, grade and quality of steel used, design drawings tips to read and implementation of these drawings on site.

Expansion joints include onsite laying, maintenance of gapping in the joint.

Sheet piling includes how to drive pile in the soil and method and joining method.

Concrete girders include details of steel bars used including bar bending schedule, placement of girder, seismic barrier used on site and other General site issues and their solutions.

The visit was very informative and full of new information where the students gathered valuable information.
