To create awareness among faculties all over India and to enhance their knowledge about latest technologies and trends in the field of Network and Cyber Security, a One - week Faculty Development Programme on “Network and Cyber Security” was organized by School of Computer and Systems Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in association with NITTTR, Chandigarh from 27th June to 1st July 2016. Mr. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology and Ms. Nishi Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering from Dronacharya College of Engineering attended the programme.

Day 1: 27th June 2016 |
Prof. D. K. Lobiyal (Course co-coordinator) inaugurated the FDP with his address to the dignitaries and the participants. Prof. R.K. Sharma (Chief Guest), Prof. R. K. Aggarwal (Dean SC&SS), Dr. Karan Singh (Course co-coordinator), Mr. Saurabh Kaushal (Professor, NITTTR) were present during the inauguration ceremony. Mr. Saurabh Kaushal gave a brief about the course, training schedule and modules covered in training. |
Starting the session Dr. R. K. Sharma (Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi) described basic mathematics that laid the foundation for present day cryptographic algorithms and reaching to the algorithms as such. The second session was conducted by Mr. Saurabh Kaushal who explained the threats to the common man in today’s world of digitization and social engineering. He also gave practical session on ethical hacking and Windows Pen-Testing. |
Day 2: 28th June 2016 |
Dr. Karan Singh began the session by discussing about Multicasting Security and related issues. The second session was conducted by Dr. D. K. Lobiyal. He explained Wireless Networking and its security issues. The last session was held by Dr. Nanhe Singh, Associate Prof, AIACTR, New Delhi who explained Information Theory and Security issues associated with it. |
Day 3: 29th June 2016 |
The third day session was taken by Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Director, Magma Research & Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. in which he explained “Network and Information Forensics using Python”. Later, he discussed the Wireless Traffic Analysis using Python. He concluded the day, with an informative session on SQL Injection & Cheat Sheet Vulnerability Investigation. |
Day 4: 30th June 2016 |
On the fourth day, Mr. Anup Girdhar, CEO and Founder, Sedulity Solutions and Technologies, Delhi delivered a lecture on “Information Gathering, Foot - printing, Discovering Email Spam and System Audits”. He also gave an insight to his company and concluded his session with real life examples of hacking and security. |
Day 5: 1st July 2016 |
On the last day, Prof. Satish Chand explained Data hiding techniques and wavelets. The last session was taken by Ms. Mala Kalra, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department, NITTTR Chandigarh on Cryptography, Cryptanalysis and related research area. She also introduced Quantum and Voice Cryptography, sharing with us a slight insight into QKD (Quantum Key Distribution). |
In the closing ceremony, valedictory session was headed by Dr. R. K. Aggarwal and Dr. Karan Singh. The dignitaries were presented a memento and they congratulated JNU for organizing a successful workshop. The valedictory speech was given by Prof. D. K. Lobiyal. The certificates were distributed by Prof. R. K. Agarwal and Prof. D. K. Lobiyal. The FDP was concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Satish Chand. |
The programme discussed the basic and advanced topics of Network and Cyber Security with practical approach and highlight the scope of numerous research efforts on Cyber security.
