18th ISTE National Students Convention

The 18th ISTE National Students Convention, themed “Technology for Rural Development to Accomplish Vision India-2020” was hosted by KINGS College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu on 30th October, 2015.

Dronacharya College of Engineering has been identified as the Best Student Chapter of ISTE Haryana Section on the basis of activities carried out during the year 2015 and so was nominated for the prestigious award. Dr. Neelam Ruhil, Chapter Head of ISTE DCE Student Chapter, received the award on behalf of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon.

Prof. Pratapsinh K Desai, President, ISTE, New Delhi inaugurated the ceremony with his presidential address. The event was presided by Dr. S. Durairaj , Principal, KINGS College of Engineering. Dr. Chelliah Thangaraj, Vice Chancellor, Vignan’s University, Andhra Pradesh was the chief guest. Other dignitaries who graced the event were:

1. Prof. K. Manivannan (Vice-President, ISTE),

2. Prof. Vijay D. Vaidya (Executive Secretary, ISTE),

3. Dr. R. Murugesan (Past President, ISTE),

4. Prof. Dr. A.K. Natesan (Chairman, ISTE-TN&P Section),

5. Shri. T.R.B. Rajaa (Ex-Chairman, KINGS College of Engineering),

6. Mrs. Sharmila Rajaa (Chief Financial Officer, KINGS College of Engineering) and

7. Mr. T.R.S. Muthukumar (Chief Executive Officer, KINGS College of Engineering).

Dr. S. Durairaj started the session by expressing his views that technology is a nonlinear tool available to humanity effecting fundamental changes in the ground rules of economic competitiveness. He also talked about the impact of digital revolution in rural areas supported by the rapid growth of Information and Technology.

Dr. Chelliah Thangaraj, the Keynote speaker addressed to the participants that the theme of the convention was very crucial for India. Modern technologies should be adopted to increase the productivity per unit area. He said that the disparity of time between demand and supply makes thing worse for the producer. He defined that multidimensional transformation is very necessary to materialise India’s vision, i.e.

1. To remove the poverty of millions,

2. To provide health, education, skills, employment for all

3. To be a worldclass exporter and

4. To be self-reliant in national security and build up capabilities to improve India before 2020.

The convention provided a great opportunity for the participants to meet and interact with scholars from all over India and helped the students and faculties to know more on digitalized ICT technology applications. The vast experience gained during the event motivated the younger generation to transform India as one of the leading Technological Nations in the world.
