GUEST LECTURE ON INTERVIEW SKILLS

CSI Chapter of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a Guest Lecture on “Interview Skills” on 26th August 2016. The speaker for the lecture was Major (Retd.) Shreshtsh Shekhar (Co-Founder and Training Director) from Transformeon, Gurgaon.

Major Shekhar started his lecture by sharing his interview experience with the students. He explained success in job interview starts with a solid foundation of knowledge. The more research you will conduct, the more you will understand the employer and better you will be able to answer interview questions. He said before going for an interview, prepare your answer for the very common questions usually asked in the interviews.

Major Shekhar discussed the dressing and body language for an interview. He said always wear ironed formal clothes. Never wear too much jewelry or a strong fragrance. He then explained body language for interview. He defined that body language is a form of non - verbal communication, consisting of body pose, gestures, and eye movements. He discussed the importance of good eye contact, smile, open body language, practice for handshake & accept an offer for a glass of water. Eye plays important role during interview. According to him communication during interview is an essential part of interview. It is necessary to listen carefully to interviewers questions, avoid interrupting the interviewers & try not to use jargon in your answers or questions.

The lecture was very knowledgeable and the students understood how to deal with nervousness. Experiences shared about interview skills during the lecture were very helpful and it enhanced the knowledge of students to a great extent.
