A Session on “Roundtable on Innovation and Excellence in K-12 Education”
 

On 19th November, 2014 three faculty members Mr. Yashvardhan Soni (IT Dept.), Ms. Sarita (CSE Dept.) & Ms. Pratibha Sharma (CSE Dept.) from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, attended India-US Technology Summit at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida.

Mr. Vijay Thadani (Chair, CII National Committee on School Education & CEO, NIIT Ltd.) & Ms. Eve Psalti (Director, Partners in Learning Microsoft, USA) inaugurated the session.

In the panel discussion main speakers were Ms. Radha Chauhan (Joint Secretary, Secondary Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development ), Dr. Vijayan K. (Assistant Professor , ESD, NCERT), Mr. Vijay Chaddha (Member, CII National Committee on School Education & CEO, Bharti Foundation), Prof. Steve Molyneux (Professor, Global Education Centre for Doctoral Studies; Fcaulty, Lamar University, Texas, USA Chief Executive Leadership, Tablet Academy, UK), Mr. Amit Kaushik (Practice Head, Education & Skills Development, IPE Global Private Limited), Mr. Ajith Basu (Chief Program Executive, Agastya International Foundation) & Mr. Parth Shah (Founder President, Centre for Civil Society).

The focus of discussion was some of the best practices at the K-12 level, which are sustainable and can be emulated by everybody. Participants discussed UNESCO’s 21st century framework, how the government, private sector and Industry can collaborate to create models of excellence for schools, which are sustainable and scalable, the importance of assessment in teaching and learning, holistic development, building leadership qualities in children, and dynamics of peer-assisted learning.
