NSS Mega Camp 2014
5th to 16th September2014
 

The NSS MEGA CAMP 2014 was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports and the NSS regional centre, Jaipur. The NSS Mega Camp held at two venues between 5th to 16th September 2014 at Jain Vishwa Bharati, Ladun District, Nagaur (Rajasthan) [Base Camp] and from 12th to 16th September, 2014 an education tour was organized to Jaipur, Ajmer and nearby areas. Twelve students from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated as NSS volunteers at the event.

On 5th September 2014 teams from all over India reached the Base Camp i.e Jain Vishwa Bharati University. Total 400 volunteers participated along with their Program Officers from all over India (26 states and 4 UT). In the introduction session various committees of volunteers were formed for the Mega Camp work. Cultural Event preparation started for the Inauguration Ceremony and seven teams performed in it.

On 6th September 2014 the day started with the Prabhat-Pheri. A group of volunteers sang their traditional songs and then assembled in the campus for attendance. There was a Yoga Session under the guidance of Mr. Ramdev, faculty of Jain Vishwa Bharti Unversity. He taught various forms of Yoga and their advantage in daily life. Every day group of volunteers from different states served meals to the participants. The campus was decorated by the volunteers by displaying banners and posters of the Mega Camp. Post lunch all the volunteers assembled in Auditorium and two volunteers from each state stood outside wearing their traditional dresses to welcome Samani Charitra Prajna, Vice Chancellor of the JVB University and Mr. G.K Tuteja (NSS advisor, Ministry of youth Affairs and Sports), the Chief Guests for the ceremony. After the inauguration ceremony the chief guest addressed the volunteers and the inauguration ceremony ended up with cultural performances by the representatives of Goa, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttarakhand. Post dinner there was a meeting of Program Officers for the next day schedule.

On 7th September 2014 the day started with Prabhat Pheri where Haryana, West Bengal and Uttrakhand teams performed and served food to the participants. After the Yoga Session by Mr. Ramdev there was a rally in Ladnun by the Volunteers of the NSS Mega Camp on National Integration and Social Events. All the teams from different states of India wore their Traditional Dresses and had banner on Social Issue prepared by them. In the academic session Shri G K Tuteja said that the importance of this Session was the theme of NSS and Objective of Volunteers of NSS Mega Camp. Then there was inauguration of NYK Club in Ladnun (JVB Unversity). Lecture were delivered by NYK’s Mr. Khatri, Mr. Mahesh & DYC Nagaur. It was followed by a lecture on Water shed Development, Soil conservation and rain water harvesting. After that there was meeting of Program Officers and the students prepared for the PPT/newsletter/Camp Letter.

On 8th September 2014 there was Rangoli and chart making session. In the Academic Session Rajasthan AIDS control Society from Jaipur gave a Presentation on AIDS awareness Post lunch the Academic Session projects were taken by Mr. C.Samuel Chelliah, NSS RC, Trivandrum.

On 9th September 2014 after Prabhat Pheri and the Yoga Session there was a survey on the streets of Ladnun. The main motto of the survey was to check that the people of Ladnun are aware about Government Schemes and if not then it was the duty of volunteers to make them aware about the schemes and their advantages. More than 100 groups were formed and in each group there were 4 volunteers. After the Survey there was a session by Vice Chancellor of JVB, Ladnun, on soft skills and on Life style education called Jeevan Vigyan. The session ended with the cultural program of the South Zone.

On 10th September 2014 the volunteers participated in Tree Plantation Program. All the volunteers along with their Program Officers planted trees in the Campus of JVB University. More than One Hundred trees were planted on that day. Centre Zone performed their cultural event on that day.

On 11th September 2014 the day started with Prabhat Pheri and Yoga. After that the students were given different topics by the NSS committee and they were asked to make presentations on them. The day ended with the cultural program by the Central zone.

From 12th September to 15th September 2014 the participants stayed at Jaipur and visited different places of Rajasthan like Shri Salasar Ji Temple, Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, Jaipur city, Jal Mahal , Amer Fort, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, City Palace and Jantar Mantar.

On 16th September 2014 there was a feedback session of the camp in which all the volunteers filled the feedback form of the NSS MEGA CAMP 2104. Post lunch the closing ceremony of the NSS MEGA CAMP 2014 was held. Mr. Sachin Pathania of Vth semester, IT department was awarded for designing the website of NSS Mega Camp 2014 (www.nssmegacamp2014.com) and Mr. Sahil Jindal, Vth semester, CSE Department from Dronacharya College of Engineering was rewarded for photography by Mrs. Madhubala ,Youth Officer Head NSS Rajasthan.
