A Seminar "Education U.S.A." was conducted at the American Center on 7th October 2015 to provide information on requirements or conditions to students for studying in the United States. Akshit Jaggi (15453) and Aditya Chhillar (15449) from Information Technology Dept., Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the seminar.

The keynote speakers for the event were Mr. Langston and Ms. Richa Gulati. They focused on the colleges which offer M.Tech and M.B.A. degree for graduates and Doctorate degree for those who have completed their Post Graduation. The seminar provided accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited institutions in the United States. The participants came to know about the U.S. higher education community that help the institutions in recruitment and campus internationalization.

They focused on 3 points that a student must follow who intends to study abroad. These are as follows:

1. The first step to studying in the United States is researching the options to find a college or university that best fits the needs of the participants.

2. The cost of living and studying varies across the United States. With the right amount of planning and research, pursuing a U.S. higher education can be made affordable by the students.

3. Then comes the process of completing the application. This step covers the general application requirements for U.S. colleges and universities. Applying for U.S. study is a task that takes time and concentration as each application is different and involves collecting recommendations, writing essays, and routing the results of required standard examinations.

4. Here the first part is clearing IELTS and crack the cut-off marks,

5. An online interview will be conducted and afterwards a separate exam for the respected college will be held for getting admission in the target college.

The speakers also discussed the topics related to scholarship which will be based only on the IELTS marks and Mains exam combined with the percentage of the latest course completed by the student.

The participants were then explained about application of F, J and M types student visa. Information pertaining to visas and travel can be found on the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs website and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Study in the States.

The seminar ended with a question and answer session where the participant’s doubts were cleared by the speakers. It was a very knowledgeable seminar for the students who wish to go for higher studies in the USA.
