WORKSHOP ON CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMY CONFERENCE &
INSTRUCTOR RETOOLING ON 20-21 NOV 2014
 

A two day workshop on “CISCO Networking Academy Conference and Instructor Retooling” was conducted by Cisco Networking Academy at Amity University, Noida from 20 to 21 Nov 14. Mr. Ajit Kumar from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department and Mr. Amitesh Kumar from Information Technology Department attended the Conference.The objective of this workshop was to train the faculty and instructors regarding the applications of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for imparting technical knowledge. Dr. Sunil Kumar Khatri, Director, Amity Institute of Information Technology, Noida inaugurated the workshop and emphasized the importance of such workshops where the power of cloud computing is demonstrated in education by utilizing networks.

 

The preliminary session on the first day was conducted by Ms. Anuradha Sharma, Program Manager, Social Innovation Group, Cisco System, who enlightened the participants on the topic “Networking Academy & Curriculum Update 2014” where she gave a brief description of the various technologies being offered by CISCO to the students and faculty in the field of networking. The second session was conducted by B S Ananth, Technical Manager, Cisco Networking Academy on the topic of “Instructor Professional Development”. He emphasized the fact that the industry was in real need of skilled people in the field of Networking and that CISCO’s initiative is to produce readily employable Network Engineers. Third session after lunch was conducted by Sreevalsan M., Head ICTS, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham where the roles and duties of Academy Support Centre and New Working Model were discussed.

 

The second day session commenced with the tool practice demonstration of “Net Flow feature in Packet Tracer 6.1” by Shailesh Jadhav, CRISP Bhopal. Post tea s session of the day was conducted by B S Ananth, Technical Manager, Cisco Networking Academy on topic “Network Security”. He explained about the procedure to protect routers and switches from hackers for different cases. After lunch in third session, a talk on “Cisco Security for Higher Education” was delivered by Vivek Srivastava, Cisco. He discussed about challenges of monitoring bandwidth and data security associated with Wi-Fi enabled campuses. Yogesh Pandey, Cisco Systems gave a talk on “Future of Learning”, where ICT plays a vital role in imparting technical knowledge. In the concluding session, Tanya Singh, Instructor, Amity University shared her views on the quality support initiatives taken by academic support centre, Amity University, Noida.

 

The session concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation and valedictory speech by Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Noida. She praised the initiatives taken by CISCO to bridge the gap between industry and academia.
