ICT WORKSHOP - III

With an aim to make the students placement ready, a one day workshop on “Preparing Students for Job Interviews” was organized at Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh through ICT on 7th October 2016. Forty six students from Departments of CSE, IT and CSIT attended the workshop.

The inauguration ceremony was done by Dr. P.K. Tulsi, Head of the Department of Education and Educational Management, NITTTR, Chandigarh in which, she discussed about current scenario of the industries to hire fresher’s.

After the inauguration ceremony Mr. Sanmeet Sandhu, Thapar University, Patiala took a session on “Writing Job Resume. Mr. Sandhu explained to the students how to prepare the resume and shared the format of resume with the audience. He also stated that the potential employer is going to be taking to glance at our resume, so it’s very important to make sure that all the years you have been studying are going to be represented properly in your resume.

Then, a session on “Expectations of Industry from Technical Graduates” was taken up by Mr. Ramandeep Sidhu, HR Head, Aerospace. Mr. Sidhu said that industries demand for a candidate, who seems to be more punctual, understanding and eager to learn. He said that even if a candidate does not know about the question being asked, and if he shows his intention to learn, it leaves a positive impact on the interviewer.

Then, Dr. P.K. Tulsi had discussion on certain tips to appear in the interview. Dr. Tulsi advised students to practice answering interview questions and practice responses to the typical job interview questions. Dr. Tulsi said that providing evidence of your successes is a great way to promote the candidacy. Giving tips about interview, Dr. Tulsi said that during the job interview try to relax and stay as calm possible. Remember that the body language says as much about candidate as his / her answers to the questions.

In the end, a session on group discussion was taken up by Dr. S. P. Bedi, Professor, NITTTR Chandigarh, in which she highlighted various points to start group discussions and actively participate in it.

The workshop proved to be very informative for the student from placement perspective.
