Young Entrepreneur Panel Engineering Project Events 2016

Faridabad Industries Association (FIA) Young Entrepreneur Panel Engineering Project Competition

16th April & 23rd April 2016

Faridabad Industry Association (FIA) organized an engineering projects competition – ‘The Young Entrepreneurs Panel Engineering Project Competition’ on 16th April 2016. The award ceremony for shortlisted projects was held on and 23 April 2016.

The FIA is a service - oriented organisation which was started in 1952. It not only serves the industries but also extends its activities to other areas like environment, sports, cultural, rural education, social projects etc. The association has been hosting the project competition for last twelve years to encourage innovative and promising ideas from the engineering student fraternity.

The competition had 3 categories : ME, ECE / EEE and CSE / IT. The first phase of the competition comprised with best colleges sending in their best projects under these categories which were then shortlisted and judged by industry experts on the basis of innovation, feasibility, cost, idea and scope of the project.

The following projects from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon participated in the event :

Mechanical Engineering :

1. Solar Power Automation Robotic Cleaning Machine

2. Electric GolfKart

3. Atmospheric Water Collector

Electronics and Communication Engineeering :

1. Smart Farming System

2. Smart Helmet

3. Self Sustainable Hybrid Model for Rural Electrification

Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology

1. Credit Card Fraud detection using Genetic Algorithm

2. Medicine dispenser

3. Route Finder

The project “Medicine Dispenser” was shortlisted under the CSE / IT category for the presentation round held on 17th April 2016. The project was completed by Rishabh Sharma (Roll No : 15732), Vishakha (Roll No : 15738) and Shubham Sachdeva (Roll No : 15744) under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Neelam Ruhil, HOD - ECS and Assistant Professor Parul Bansal, Electronics & Computer Engineering. The project won second position in the competition and was awarded with a memento and certificate to all the team members.

Student of Electronics and Communication Engineering department Chandan Kumar was selected to showcase his novel idea with Project titled : Self Sustainable Hybrid Model for Rural Electrification. The project was implemented under the guidance of Mrs. Sanghamitra V. Arora of ECE department. The project won the First Prize in ECE / EEE category out of nine contestants groups. The award consisted of a memento and a certificate.

Medicine dispenser is a money operated machine for various medicines. Now a day, medicine is a basic necessity and maybe needed by anyone at any point of time. The objective of this project is to make medicines, available to the people who are in dire need of it especially at places like state & national highways, metro stations, bus stands and railway stations.

The objective of Self Sustainable Hybrid Model for Rural Electrification project is to provide ecologically and economically sustainable source of power to underprivileged community around the world. This model demonstrates the optimum utilization of sun & wind energy as per the intensity of availability at any given point of time. The intelligent hybrid distribution ensures minimum outage and synchronizes automatically with source of energy between wind and solar equipped batteries. This prototype is equipped with rotational solar plate which changes as per the position of sun. It uses two convex reflectors to focus beam on the plate to enhance efficiency. Along with solar panel, six units of wind energy turbine are attached to plate, which helps to increase the output power significantly. The device functions like a deck prism during daytime due to the refraction of sunlight. Hence the entire solar and wind energy can be stored in a battery during the day time. In the night, intelligent hybrid distribution system selects the best suitable source of energy for maximum output. The hybrid system gives priority to wind power for continuity. But if the wind threshold is below the desired threshold for power output, the system shifts to battery energy and vice versa. This system when practically installed can be used for rural house hold applications with outage minimization.
