Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon and KARD India, Delhi jointly organized a workshop on “Career Management” on 17th October 2016. Mr. Aalekh Rai (Founder) from KARD India, Delhi (Keycenter for Advanced Research and Development) was keynote speaker for the seminar. 58 students from CSE, IT, ECS, ECE & EEE Department from DCE, Gurgaon attended the workshop.

Mr. Rai started his lecture with introduction to Career Management. He explained Career Management is the process that plans and shapes the progression of individuals within an organization in accordance with the organizational needs and objectives, employees’ performance potential and their preferences.

Mr. Rai described the meaning of fresher. Fresher is a person like clay for the company, which can be mold according to the requirement. He discussed various options that students can adopt after completion of B. Tech like Master’s degree in Engineering, MBA & higher education in foreign country. To eligible for admission in M Tech or MBA they should start preparation from second year of Engineering. He also guided the students regarding preparation for admission in foreign universities, scholarship from various companies.

Mr. Rai explained the type of companies in which students can search the jobs. There are two types of companies namely product based and service based companies. Product based company is a company which makes products which might be/ might not be related to software, but they need IT department to make that product more sellable. Service Based Company will be involved in the development of Application which will used to serve the various sectors such as Insurance, Health care, Retail, Banking etc. He explained difference between small companies & large companies. It is necessary for students to find out their own interest as per their likes.

Mr. Rai mentioned fraud detection in corporate world. There are various sites on which students normally submit their resume like naukari.com & shine.com and many others. Students started getting mails regarding job offer & job interview after submitting their resume to these job sites. Student can find out fraud job offer if such a mail does not have students name & they are asking to pay the money.

The seminar was very informative and the basics of Career Management were explained. Student understood the scope and career options, fellowship & competition, Market Scenario at present time, Fraud detection in corporate world, tips to getting hired & so on.
