SYMPOSIUM ON “GROWTH AND PROSPECTS OF MSME SECTOR IN EMERGING SCENARIO”

 

Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized 1st National Level symposium on “Growth and Prospects of MSME Sector in Emerging Scenario” on 8th – 9th January, 2015 at India Habitat Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi. Nine students of Electronics & Computer Engineering and Computer Science Engineering Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended the symposium.

The symposium started with the lighting of lamp by Shri Kalraj Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Government of India. The opening remarks for the conference were delivered by Shri Arun Kumar Jha, Director General National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD). The context setting and special address was given by Shri Kavi Arora, Co - Chairman, CII Northern Regional Committee on MSMEs, followed by the keynote address by Shri Surendra Nath Tripathi, Joint Secretary Ministry of MSME.

The Plenary Session one was conducted on the theme "Make in India: Emerging Sectors of Opportunities", in which the eminent speakers discussed about various opportunities in emerging sectors including Engineering Exports, IT Sector, Handicraft, Auto parts & tourism. The Second Session was on theme "Innovation, Economic Growth and New Employment Generation: Pillars of MSME", in which Ms. Roopika Rastogi, Advisor, National Institute for Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development, discussed about Economic Growth, Contribution for Country’s growth, entrepreneurship in the new generation and role of E-commerce in manufacturing industry.

The third session included a talk by Shri Harpreet Singh, Managing Director, Central Warehousing Corporation in which he discussed about Indian market and opportunities, critical component of the entire business ecosystem, key services, such as road transport, warehousing and cargo shipments, backbone of businesses across industries, including automobiles, retail and pharmaceuticals and SME units. The fourth Plenary Session was about Promotion of Renewable Energy Generation and Efficient Energy use in MSME by Shri M Chandrasekhar Reddy, Director General, National Institute for MSME. Shri Sujit Gulati, Joint Secretary, Ministry of textile discussed about challenges in financial discipline and transparency, government support through several schemes and programs in specific sectors such as khadi and village industries, coir, textiles, food processing in fifth plenary session.

In the end, the valedictory address was given by Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of state for MSME, Govt. of India, followed by vote of thanks by Shri Sujith Haridas.
