SEMINAR ON “SUSTAINABLE ENERGY” IN ASSOCIATION WITH CDC, NEW DELHI & ISTE

 

Dronacharya College of Enginerring, Gurgaon organised a one-day technical seminar on “Sustainable Energy” in association with Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), an autonomous institution of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Govt. of India and the student chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) on March 12, 2014.

In his inaugural address Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Hussain said that today, energy efficiency and renewable energy are the twin pillars of sustainable energy. To achieve sustainable development without crossing ecological thresholds, we will need to transition to a low carbon economy, to adopt sustainable consumption and production patters, to become more resource efficient and to decouple economic growth from the over-exploitation of natural resources. We also require a more integrated approach that tackles sustainable development targets coherently and comprehensively.

Introductory Video on “Sustainable Energy” was showcased by Anshul Patro (Roll No. 14605), VI Sem, Electronics and Computer Engineering Department. Prof. Swati Jha gave a brief introduction on Consultancy Development Centre. Prof. R.C Sharma enlightened the students by giving a succinct introduction on “Energy Scenario Statistics in India”.

Mr. Sankar Barman, Senior Engineer (R&D), EcoSense Sustainable Solutions Pvt. Ltd. talked about the “Theoretical Concepts of Renewable Solar Energy”. He threw light on Drivers of renewable energy, Different sources of renewable energy, Various branches of solar energy, Components of a Photo Voltaic system Principles of Physics behind solar cells etc.

Mr. Ashutosh, engineer from Ecosense Sustainable Solutions Pvt. Ltd., informed the participants about the practical aspects of a “Physical Mini Solar Power Plant” and explained the various peripherals attached to the device. He also mentioned crisply on the types of experiments that may be performed on the same.

Mr. Ravinder Singh, Senior Engineer (Engineering), ACME Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd. shared his knowledge of Research and Development in Solar Energy sector.

Over 250 students, faculty members along with Ms. Shelika Arora, Professional B and Mr. Saumya Makker, Professional B, CDC attended the seminar.
