One Day Workshop on “Engineering & Science Innovation Summit”

conducted by National Instrument India on 4th June 2014

Poonam Singla and Sunil Kumar Faculty from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended “Engineering & Science Innovation Summit” conducted by National Instruments (NI), India” about NI Measurement Lab Series held at Hotel INN, Gurgaon on 4th June 2014. The experts from NI introduced NI Lab view Software.

National Instruments (NI) provides an intuitive platform that can connect to thousands of sensors and instruments in order to acquire and analyze signal; and present graphical outputs. NI Measurements Lab series enables researchers to perform advanced research in the measurements and students to perform their project work in measurement related applications.

NI measurement Laboratory, comprising of SCXI, NI ELVIS& Compaq DAQ Platform, can be used to teach sensors, Instrumentation and Measurement concepts. The SCXI module will help students to learn fundamental concepts of Sensors, characteristics, interfacing, Impedance Matching and sensor excitation. NI ELVIS is an integrated suite of 12 most commonly used lab instruments in a compact, rugged, laboratory-friendly package with integrated USB and supporting curriculum. Compact DAQ equipment allows practical work devoted to basics of data acquisition, processing and analysis of signals based on the latest measuring technologies.

National Instrument facilitates experiential learning by offering complete Laboratories for a wide range of specialties. These Laboratories enable students to work with measuring equipment and various types of sensors and signals, independent of branch of engineering. The NI Measurement Laboratory includes a set of measuring modules supporting various types of sensors with embedded signal conditioning; terminal units for signal commutation; and basic measurement courses.

Benefits of the NI Experimental Approach:

1. Hands-on Learning of measurement systems, Virtual Instrumentation etc.

2. Teach fundamental concepts of Various Labs practicals

3. Experimental and Project based Learning

Teaching Recourses:

1. Text Book: Advances Labview Labs by John Essick and prentice Hall.

2. ni.com/academic for Course ware, Training Material, Demonstrations and Tutorials

3. cnx.org for related open-source content

The Participants gained knowledge on the use of various NI instruments for these aspects. The Workshop has been fruitful for the participants.
