WOMEN SECURITY

On 17th February 2014 Ms. Chesta Agarwal, Assistant Professor from Computer Science & Engineering Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a one-day Workshop on Women Security organized by Yes Bank in association with CARE India at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The objective of this workshop was to discuss and identify the security and safety issues of girls and women in India. The campaign by Yes Bank was flagged off by Shri. B K Gupta, Former Commissioner of Police - Security, Delhi Police and Ms. Ritika Dhingra, Senior President and Country Head, YES BANK and was attended by women from leading NGOs, media, corporate, faculty and students from various colleges across Mumbai.

The guest speaker Ms. Debi Steven, the U.K.-based self defence expert along with other teammates from Action Breaks Silence shared the valuable inputs may be incorporated to provide complete security to women in the present society. Addressing the participants she said, "I believe every teenage girl and woman in India should be empowered by being taught effective Personal Safety and Self Defence skills to address women's fears about welfare and practical safety." Another speaker Ms. Ritika Dhingra, Senior President and Country Head, YES BANK said, "The safety of women in India is a matter of deep concern. We need to help them equip to protect themselves better in their daily lives." She also shared some ways and means should be followed by the society in general for welfare of women in India.

The workshop was quite relevant and the participants learnt principles of empowering women in our country.
