Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Computer Application and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi organized Two days Faculty Development Programme (FDP) (8th – 9th November, 2013) on “Website development Through PHP” which was conducted by “Proud Technologies” and CSI & NASSCOM.

A. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

I. The objective of the programme was to train the faculty members about the website development through PHP and other      freely available software like Drupal.

II. Hand on approaches of innovative designing of a website and integrating it using MYSQL and publishing the website.

III. To help participant to discuss ideas and integrate the measurement of results in website development and achieve the        magnificent up-shots.

PROGRAMME

Day 1 (8th November 2013)

Workshop process started at around 8:30 am with registration and welcoming of the guests. Then it was followed by motivating and intellectual opening talk delivered by Prof. M.N HODA and Mr. R.K Vyas. Event brief was given by Mr. Naresh Kalra, Managing Director, Proud Technologies. After inaugural address and vote of thanks Technical Talk was started by a technically sound and proficient person Mr. Vikram Singh, Software Engineer at Proud Technologies. Mr. Singh rolled over basic concepts of HTML with hands on implementation of every topic. Then he introduced about PHP Fundamentals and small programmes of PHP pages embedded in HTML. After delivering various programmes on PHP basics, we were given the introduction about MYSQL queries and database connectivity of PHP with MYSQL. Every topic was covered with the implementation so that faculties can understand topic in depth. At round 4:30 pm an awe-inspiring talk was delivered on “How To Improve Life: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Mr. Pankaj Singh, Associate Professor, BVIMAR. First day program included Technical and inspiring talk with an end on session in lab so as to understand everything practically and also a networking tea break and a sumptuous lunch break was included in the first day program. First day program was till 5 pm which was to be continued the next day.

Day 2 (9th November 2013)

Day two was sustained with technical talk on PHP by Mr. Vikram singh. He continued with PHP fundamentals, explaining object oriented concepts which can be applied in PHP. We practically implemented all the loops and cases which can be used in different ways. Later on he introduced us about website hosting. Mr. Singh showed us how a website is hosted and how to obtain a DNS by paying the hosting server. Later on after the lunch break he introduced us about Drupal which is an online application made in PHP used for making websites and connecting the sites with the server. Drupal helped us in making a website which gives a very rich look and feel to it and even those whose programming is not very sound can easily make the websites without any hassle. He introduced us to various links on which software and open source projects are easily available which can be used for research work by the faculties. Overall the workshop provided a good practical learning experience on the technology PHP and other relevant software.

Post session was followed by the filling of feedback form, a photo session was held in the BVICAM campus in which all the participating faculties, visitors and guest were assembled.

Vote of thanks was given by Prof. M.N HODA which was followed by certificate distribution at 5:30 pm.
