Introduction

Felicitation ceremony for outstanding participation and making excellent projects in The Great Mind Challenge (TGMC) 2012 was held at IBM India Pvt. Ltd. Embassy Golf Link Parks, Indira nagar Inner Ring Road, Bangalore on 08th November 2013. Dr. Jitender Kumar got the privilege to receive the award on behalf of Dronacharya College of Eng., Gurgaon at this mega event.

The Morning Session was started at 10.00 A.M. with the welcome address by Ms. Malathi Srinivasan, Country Manager, IBM Academic Initiative. She discussed about the benefits students are getting with this platform provided by IBM. Her address was followed by the talk of Mr. Sudhir Sastry, Technical Sales Leader, IBM Software, South Asia. He discussed about the IBM Eco System Development. Ms. Vani Singh, India Lab Leader, IBM Watson Solutions Development & Service gave her presentation after Mr. Sastry’s talk. She presented various innovative projects undertaken by IBM like a phone which can have all the senses like human beings. After Ms. Vani Singh’s presentation, Mr. A. Muruganantham, an Entrepreneur and Motivational Speaker gave his motivational speech. He told the audience that even after being a school dropout how he became a Millionaire and how he keeps self motivating himself.

Awards to all the Top performing Colleges in TGMC 2012 and to the top 15 Teams were given to the representatives of various colleges by Ms. Vani Singh, India Lab Leader, IBM Watson Solutions Development & Service and Mr. Sudhir Sastry, Technical Sales Leader, IBM Software, South Asia. DCE, Gurgaon have submitted over 50 Projects in TGMC 2012 and are among the top 30 colleges across India. More than 2000 institutes have participated in this event and being one of the top 30 colleges is matter of pride for us. The Best Project award was given to the team of Bapuji College of Engineering, Karnataka.

The last talk of the session was given by Mr. Karthik Padmanabhan, Business Unit Executive, ISV and Developer Relations, South Asia. He discussed about TGMC 2013 Mobility APP Contest. He discussed with the audience about how to make this event better and bigger than TGMC 2012. He requested his team to work on the suggestions given by the audience and assured maximum cooperation from IBM to make TGMC 2013 a bigger success. He gave also thanked all the colleges and members of IBM Academic Initiative to make TGMC 2012 a success.

The afternoon session was started with the brilliant performance of India Software Labs Band. The band performed on various latest Bollywood numbers. Their performance was followed with the presentation of Mr. Lohit, IBM Master Inventor, India Software Labs. He told the audience that the first step to Innovate is to ask questions and to find problems. He is having 22 patents on his name and told the audience to do time management to do innovation. He also shared 09 steps for innovations with the delegates of various colleges. The event ended with the student’s visit to IBM Software lab.
