3rd National Conference on Skill Development 2013

 

Prof. Vishal Bharti, Head, Department CSE, Ms. Megha Goel, Associate Professor, Information Technology Department and Mr. Ravi Dutt, Assistant Professor, Applied Sciences and Humanities Department represented Dronacharya College of Engineering Gurgaon in the 3rd National Conference on Reviving Economic Growth through Skill Development held at Hotel The Lalit, New Delhi on 28th November 2013.

The objective of this conference was to discuss some of the important issues like India Inc & Skilling : Myths & Realities; Connecting the Skills Network; Sector Skill Councils; Session with States & Ministries; Launch of the India Skills Report etc.

Inaugurating the conference Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General CII shared the concepts to be executed for making our nation developed. Mr. Shikhar Aggarwal, Director General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt of India, New Delhi delivered a lecture on the “India Skill Report & Presentation of the Avant-Garde Recognition”. Dr. S.S. Mantha, Chairman, All India Council of Technical Education launched CII Special Publication “Ideating the Skills Agenda”. Mr. Dilip Chenoy, CEO and MD of NSDC expressed that with the creation of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), the country is looking forward to a synchronized skill development landscape.

Mr. N. K. Ranganath, Chairman CII Sub Committee on Skills (SR) & MD of Grundfos stated that the importance of State Government in the skill development landscape has been articulated time and again. Ms. Ramya Venkataraman, Lead-Education practice, Mc Kinsey said there is definite need to create a century where demand and supply mismatches are a thing of past.

The conference was useful as the attendees got the opportunity to learn some ideas from Multinational and Indian companies on their skill agenda.
