ONE DAY COORDINATORS WORKSHOP ON QUALITY ENHANCEMENT

PROGRAM IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION (QEEE) PHASE –III

 

One day Workshop of all QEEE Phase III Coordinators was organized at IIT Madras on 13th December 2014. Dr. Jitender Kumar, QEEE Coordinator of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended this workshop. This workshop was conducted in two batches, on 12th & 13th December 2014. Around 50 participants from various states of India participated on 13th Dec 2014. The purpose of the workshop was to make all the QEEE Coordinators familiar with the new software for QEEE Phase III by giving them hands-on session and to inform them about how to create class rooms and other facilities for the program. The entire workshop was divided in two sessions.

The Inaugural session was started by Ms. Akhila Vijay kumar and she briefed about the previous two phases of QEEE and about the learning from past two phases. Her address was followed by the ineteractive session by Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala (Chairman - QEEE Program). All participants introduced themselves to Prof. Jhunjhunwala. He talked about the need of QEEE program; this is a program in which the students of various colleges across India can study directly from the eminent professors of various IITs.

In QEEE Phase III, unlike first two phases, in III phase module wise teaching will be done. Prof. Jhunjhunwala informed the participants that a module of the subject will be taught by the IIT Faculty to the students. The teaching will be done through A-view software which is also being used for faculty workshops also in T10KT program by IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur. These will be interactive sessions and students can ask questions from the IIT Faculty. DTH faculty will also be used for conducting the class. The class timings will be of 02 hours (10-12 and 02-04 P.M.) and for each module 06 hours of classes will be conducted (05 Lecture and 01 Tutorial).

Surprise Quiz and assignment will be given by IIT Faculty and concerned faculty of college who is teaching the same subject will closely monitor the progress. All students will be given their username and password and IITM will be closely watching that which student has Logged in the system, who has appeared in the Quiz and who has submitted the Assignment. Certificate will be given to student who completes the module with upmost seriousness. Detail of every students like their number of Log-In, Number of Video Lectures watched, Time for which Video Lectures watched, Quizzes attempted, Assignments submitted will also be shared with us and will reflect the seriousness of our institute to conduct these courses. PPTs and Lecture Video of IIT Faculty are available at the QEEE.course website www. Pilot.edureform.iitm.ac.in.

Prof. Jhunjhunwala informed the participants that in this phase total 23 different modules will be taught by various subject experts from various IITs. Colleges can enroll in these courses by 17th Dec 2014 depending upon their university curriculum.

Prof. Jhunjhunwala’s address was followed by the talk of Mr. Shiv Hari (Technical Project Manager), he showed all the participants how to install the new software on the server. He also informed all the participants about various audio video settings. He gave a demonstration of hoe to install server and how to make classroom with DTH and two broadband connections. He cleared all the doubts of the participants related with all kind of technical issues.

The second session was a hands-on training session, in which all the participants worked on the servers and tried to add users / faculty in the system. Participants also saw the connections made in the system for dividing one screen into two different projector’s screens.
