PCB TECHNOLOGY

The department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a two-day workshop on “PCB Technology” from 29th to 30th August 2013 in collaboration with Jiyanjani Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (JTPL), Faridabad and Student Chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). The purpose of the PCB workshop was to allow students, receive an unparalleled education on the art of PCB Designing with an intension to make every student an expert in designing their own PCB board which would be useful for developing their own technical projects.

An eminent scholar Mr. Parveen Sharma, Director, JTPL, Faridabad talked about the history of PCB Technology and the concepts with applications which are helpful for designing the PCB practically. In the theoretical session, he explained about the ORCAD software and its use for further practical implementation in designing the PCB. During the practical session, students were divided into groups and each group was provided with their own project details & components. Layouts were designed through editing and routing of circuits following the creation of library and components. Then the designed circuit was pasted on a copper plate and the impression of that circuit was carried out on the same. The holes on that copper plate were then drilled followed by etching and soldering process. Finally the fabrication was done and the projects were tested.

Over 50 students from ECS and ECE branches of our college participated in the workshop. At the end of the workshop a test was conducted to assess basic skills of the students on PCB Technology. Three students emerged as winners scoring equal marks. The randomly selected winner of the competition- Vishal Solanki was given an 8GB pen drive and two runner ups- Neha Kapoor & Ankit Malik were provided a 4GB pen respectively.

On the closing ceremony the Certificates of coordination and participation were distributed by Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Hussain. the workshop ended with a vote of thanks by the Event organizer, Anshul Patro, student of ECS Branch, V semester.
