Paper Presentation in The National Conference, Punjabi University, Patiala

14th to 15th October, 2014

 

Department of Education & Community Service, Punjabi University, Patiala, organized a two - day National Conference on Higher Education and Civil Society on 21st Century (Expansion-Equity and Excellence) from 14th - 15th October 2014. Two faculty members from Applied Sciences & Humanities Department of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented their paper at the conference.

1. Dr. Sunil Mishra, Associate Professor presented his paper titled “Impact of ICTs and Innovative Pedagogical Style on Higher Education”.

2. Dr. Parul Mishra, Assistant Professor along with two students Vismit Gupta (Roll No. 17494) and Charandeep Singh (Roll No. 17519) presented a joint paper titled “The role of Higher Education and Skills in Employability”

The objective of this Conference was to discuss the problems which are related to the role of higher education in sustainable growth and holistic development of the society. It also provided a platform to bring together a galaxy of intellectuals and researchers from all over the country to share ideas and conversed on all important aspects related to evolving a civil society.

The Conference was inaugurated by Shri Sukhdev Singh Dhindhsa, Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha in the presence of Prof. A. D. N. Bajpai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; Prof. Jaspal Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala; Prof. A. S. Chawla, Dean Academics, Punjabi University, Patiala and other distinguished guests.

Dr. Sunil Mishra in his paper discussed the challenges and remedies of learning particularly in higher education. He also emphasized on the role of ICTs and innovative pedagogical styles in keeping interactive learning environment. He was honored to chair the technical sessions of the National Conference.

The paper “The role of Higher Education and Skills in Employability”, highlighted the issues related to the higher education and it’s concern with employability. Since education is the gateway to future economic prosperity, sustainable development therefore it is the chosen instrument for combating unemployment, the driving force behind scientific and technological advancement. The presentation also shared the importance of certain skills required for employability like problem solving, decision making, leadership, a positive attitude, analytical thinking.
