Paper presentation in 8TH international conference on recent advances in civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering for sustainable development (CEASED - 2015)

11th - 12th July 2015

The 8th International Conference on Recent Advances in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering for Sustainable Development was organized by “Krishi Sanskriti” on 11th & 12th July 2015 at JNU Campus, New Delhi. Two students from 3rd year of Civil Engineering, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon presented their research papers at the event:

1. Kabi Prasad Parida (15601) presented a technical research paper titled “Analysis of Prototype Truss Bridge Models”. The paper was co-authored by Rahul Kumar (15624) under the guidance of Mr. Kunal Bisht, (Assistant Professor).

2. Prerna Kundu (15594), presented a technical research paper titled “Hybrid Effects of Fly-Ash as an Eco - Friendly material”. This paper was co-authored by Bharat Bhushan (15588), Ankur Yadav (15583) under the guidance of Ms. Sarah Khan, (Assistant Professor).

The paper “Analysis of Prototype Truss Bridge Models” focused on the major role played by trusses in civil engineering structures. It discussed about the prototype models of the basic types of trusses. In addition, the prototype which showed the maximum load bearing capacity is analyzed with respect to the superimposed load and also with the manner it distributes and bears the acting load. The truss mechanism of bearing loads is also discussed. The paper justified the prototype results and also concluded with the reasons in support of the experimental verification conforming proper analysis with superimposed and permanent loads.

The paper “Hybrid Effects of Fly-Ash as an Eco-Friendly material” makes an attempt to analyze various characteristics and properties of constituents of Indian coal which can generate optimum fly - ash to make it suitable to be used with cement as a cost effective measure. It highlights the optimum percentage in which two varieties of coal can be mixed to generate fly - ash and thereby conducting an environmental assessment to justify the eco - friendliness of concrete when mixed with such fly - ash. The paper explains how, in comparison with cement, fly - ash is abundantly available and is a cheap waste product with some mentionable properties and specifications that is an eco - friendly substance.
