NCSC 2013

21st National Children’s Science Congress-a program of National Council for Science & Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India was organized at Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana, Ambala (Haryana) on December 07th-08th, 2013. The program was inaugurated by Dr. D.K. Pandey, Senior Scientist National Council for Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. In his inaugural address Dr. Pandey stressed the need of Science Popularization in Society, infusing Scientific Temper in child Scientists, Spirit Scientific enquiry and research through systematic observation and analysis.

The focal theme for NCSC-2013 was “Energy: Explore, Harness and Conserve”. Ninety seven teams of Child Scientists ( Senior Division Urban, Senior Division Rural, Junior Division Urban and Junior Division Rural) presented their projects on above said focal theme and related sub-themes.

Dr. R.C. Sharma Professor, Dronacharya college of Engineering Gurgaon was invited as Evaluator/Judge in order to evaluate the projects presented by the Child Scientists. He was awarded Certificate of Appreciation for services rendered as an Evaluator/Judge. Sixteen Projects were selected and awarded by NCSC. The projects are highly innovative mainly based on Utilization of solar energy, energy from the transportation, biogas and kitchen waste for electricity production, gravity lamp and construction of low cost bricks using waste bio-products &agricultural waste materials. Organization of seminar and the brain storming session on Energy with about 100 guide teacher and 150 child scientists were main attraction.

The program was concluded by Sh. Ved Priya, President Haryana Vigyan Manch. He congratulated the child scientists for their contribution in popularization of science in society and research through systematic observation and analysis.
