Maplesoft Virtual User Summit

 

Mrs. Himanshi, Assistant Professor from Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended Maplesoft 2014 hosted a virtual user conference on 27th February, 2014, bringing together academic customers, experts, mathematicians, engineering educators and product developers. 

Jim Cooper, CEO and President, spoke for the summit by laying out the company’s vision for education and research. Laurent Bernardin, Chief Scientist and Executive Vice President, R&D, outlined the company’s technology roadmap.

In a series of presentations during the day, STEM educators and researchers demonstrated their success using Maplesoft technology, and showcased interesting applications and research insights. Maplesoft developers illustrated exciting advances in  Maplesim, Maple, Maple T. A. and The Mobious Project Attendees also had access to free training and resources, as well as opportunities to network.


The Maplesoft use summit  included presentations by approximately 20 users and Maplesoft staff, an exhibit with booths, a communication lounge for live attendee interactions and a resource centre that contained whitepapers, recorded webinars, brochures, datasheets, and much more.

There was a session on Maple and Mathematics Research Maple is an invaluable part of many mathematical research projects. This session highlighted the work of two different researchers who explained how they use Maple in their work and which techniques they find to be most effective. Projects involving the study of self-righting shapes and cryptography were explored. Engineering researchers made significant strides in their work with the help of advanced physical modelling technology. This presentation explored the work of several renowned researchers, and discussed such diverse projects as space rovers, hockey sticks, parallel manipulators, and electric and hybrid-electric vehicle batteries.

In this session, audience heard about some of the latest progress by Maplesoft and its academic partners in parametric polynomial systems, polynomial arithmetic, differential-algebraic equations, and physics computations.
