IUCEE-SPEED Workshop on “Engineering Education without Borders”

at

Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida

 

IUCEE-SPEED workshop on “Engineering Education without Borders” was held at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida from 17th -19th September 2014, Students from different colleges participated in the workshop and gave significant contribution. Five students Rajat Wason (15080), Ronit Yadav (15083), Sahil Mudgal (15091), Prakhar Sethi (16115) and Yash Kumar(16178) from Department of Computer Science Engineering, DCE, Gurgaon participated in the workshop.

The Workshop was organized with an objective to exploit the knowledge and creative ideas of the students so that real life problems faced by the modern world could be dealt with. The workshop started with the inauguration ceremony in presence of resource persons from SPEED-INDIA—Mr. Rohit Kandakatla, President, SPEED India, Mr. Shivay Negi, Internal Affairs Officer, SPEED India and Mr. Vinesh Raja, External Affairs Officer, SPEED India.

The sessions commenced with a 5-minute activity performed by the students to get them familiarized with the motive of the workshop. The activity was followed by an introduction to IUCEE and SPEED and a presentation on “Solar Energy” and the need of innovations in the field. Mr. Shivay Negi gave presentation on “Water Management” and emphasized the need of further development in the field. Mr. Vinesh Raja gave a presentation on “Restore and Improve Urban Infrastructure.” It was followed by the brainstorming session in which teams were asked to come up with an idea on any of the area explained by the resource persons.

The second day of the workshop started with the ideas of the teams had brought up the previous day. All the teams presented their idea on white sheets so as to be analyzed by their respective mentors. The teams were instructed to prepare a 5-7 minutes power point presentation on their idea. The day concluded with a recreational activity. The last day of the workshop started with power point presentations by the different teams. Then Mr. Rohit Kandakatla enlightened participants about Indian Student Forum (ISF) and Global Student Forum (GSF).

The last day of the workshop commenced with certificates distribution and feedback by one participant from each college. The students were assigned some designations as well. Three students Rajat Wason, Ronit Yadav and Prakhar Sethi were designated Chapter Secretary, Joint Secretary and Financial Secretary respectively. The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. TPN Singh.
