Prof. (Dr. ) H. S. Dua, HoD of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended 5th edition of India Telecom - 2013 organized from 5th to 7th December 2013 at Vigyan Bhavan with the underlying theme “Internet of People toInternet of Things – Future of Communication”. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India accompanied by Mr. Kapil Sibal the Minister of Comm. & IT, Govt. of India, New Delhi and other dignitaries.

The eventaimed to facilitate a dialogue among the government, industry, academia on how to achieve the full potential of M2M (Machine to Machine),Internet and latest communication technologies in India. Inaugurating the event, Hon’ble Prime Minister stated that Telecom sector has contributed significantly to the country’s economic growth and created valuable employment opportunities.The rural tele-density will be increased to 70% by 2017 and 100% by 2020. Reliable and affordable broadband will be provided to rural areas.Mobile services will be provided to 56,000 uncovered villages across the country. Minister of Communication & IT, Govt. of India highlighted the removal of cap on FDI, increasing it to 100% from 74% in Telecom sector for giving a boost to attract investments.

The event - The India Telecom 2013 was  a platform wherein a number of representatives from  Government sectors, industry and academia shared their views on the various issues facing the Telecom sector in its growth. Future policies of the government were also highlighted which were relevant to the attendees for imparting quality education in telecommunication.
