ICT DAY 2014

On Thursday, 24th April 2014 Ms. Sarita Assistant Professor (CSE Department) and Ms. Maneela Tuteja, Assistant Professor (IT Department) of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a session where leading Cisco and Industry women speakers from around the APAC region inspired the women for participating in networking field. Ms. Anuradha Sharma (Program Manager India, Cisco Systems India Private Limited) was the Organizer of this event in NCR region. The ICT Day is an opportunity for girls and young women to get inspired about ICT sector by getting a first-hand look into the ICT institutions and listening to women role models.

The Girls in ICT initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a global effort to raise awareness on empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider studies and careers in ICTs. The initiative is committed to celebrate and commemorate the International Girls in ICT Day on the fourth Thursday of every April as established by the ITU membership. The Girls in ICT Portal is a tool for girls and young women to get an insight into the ICT sector as well as for partners to understand the importance of the International Girls in ICT Day.

The speakers Dayne Straube (Australia), Vanessa Sulikowski (Technical Solutions Architect at Cisco & Systems Engineer at Cisco), Ms. Narella Clark (President – Internet Society of Australia) and Jigisha Hinduja (India, Education Manager – Asia South Region Symantic Corporation) shared their views during the session. Overall, the session was very informative & an initiative to empower young girls in Information Technology.
