IBM Cloud Innovation Forum

 

On 21st August 2014, Assistant Professor Mr. Niraj Kumar of Computer Science and Engineering department from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon attended a seminar on “Advancing your future on the Cloud” conducted by the “IBM Cloud Innovation Forum” at The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon.

       

The agenda of the event was:-

1. Welcome note by Mr. Sameer Batra, Vice President, Enterprise Business Unit, North and East IBM India pvt ltd.

2. Key note “Cloud is a growth engine for business” presented by Mr. Christian Klezl, Vice president, Cloud Solutions, IBM      Corporation.

3. Panel discussion with 5 CIOs, moderated by Sanchit Vir Gogia, Chief Analyst & CEO, Greyhound Research on cloud journey      of organizations with Mr. Sandeep Bhatia (Anik Systems), Mr. Harnath Babu (Aviva Life Insurance), Mr. Pratap Kumar singh (IBIBO Group), and Mr. Vineet Baid (Jabong).

4. Speakers Mr. Subram Natrajan, Executive- Systems and Technology Group and Dr. Rajendra K Gupta, CTA, IBM India       pvt., ltd., presented their view on topic “Build your own Cloud- Infrastructure matters”.

5. Mr. Sanjay Siboo, Country Manager, Offering Management, Global Technology Services, IBM India discussed topic “Tap      into IT:- Next Gen private Modular Cloud & Achieving Optimization & Economics with IaaS”.

       

The main focus of the event was to highlight “Cloud solutions that are fully integrated and automated across infrastructure and platform layers, making it easier for organizations to deploy applications & to build and manage them in the cloud”. In the event IT professionals as well as delegates from various institutes were present their presentations included examples and surveys from the industry and organizations that are using cloud solutions. The service models, for instance Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) etc. were explained. The latest cloud technologies explained at the event considers all the factors, viz. Speed, dynamic scalability and flexibility, optimization and efficiency, and security that are critical for any company. In panel discussion each CIO presented the challenges and experiences during their cloud journey.

       

The main importance of the event was to get an internal picture of the cloud technologies. Event discussed two ideas “why cloud services?” and “what services being offered by IBM?” As IBM is one of the leading cloud service providers, hence, the event was a great source of exposure to the cloud technologies that has been developed by IBM. It highlighted how IBM is helping organizations to succeed and to grow with cloud.
