The department of Applied Sciences & Humanities of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized an Extension-lecture on “Skills on cracking the interviews” on 21st October 2013 in association with Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR), New Delhi. The objective of this lecture was to deliberate on the intricacies of and emerging trends in the HR interviews.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. S. P. Singh, Former Director (HR), NTPC stressed on the importance of communication skills, appearance, body language, gesture, Self-confidence, eye contact, interpersonal skills, Critical thinking, Teamwork, behavioral approach, Time management, identifying one’s strengths and weaknesses etc. He also talked on how to drag the interviews towards your choicest areas. He laid emphasis on leadership skills, aptitude vs. knowledge, initiative taking, flexibility and adaptability etc.

The Guest speaker Mr. S. P. Singh, stated that honesty is another quality that companies will look for in applicants. He further expressed that Speak clearly, positive approach, demonstrate interest and enthusiasm etc. Addressing the students, he disseminated some don’ts during any interview like overbearing, overaggressive , conceited Bring up race, religion, or politics, bluff your way through your answer etc. He also shared some mostly asked questions with students during HR Interviews.

The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Sri Krishan Yadav, HOD, Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. He expressed his heart-felt gratitude to the guest-speaker Shri S. P. Singh, Hon’ble Principal Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Hussain, Mr. Ravish Roshan Member Secretary, Centre for Education Growth and Research and media persons for sparing their precious time. Motivating the students, he said that in any HR interview situation, task, action, response are some of the prime factors responsible of one’s success.

More than 250 students attended the lecture and learnt various strategies to get success in the HR interviews.
