Prof. (Dr.) Onkar Singh, participated in a three-day workshop on “Effective Teaching through Case Study Methodology” held at Departmentof Management Studies (DMS), IIT Delhi from March 22 to 24, 2013. The workshop was sponsored by International Forum for Excellence in Higher Education (IFEHE).

The objective of this workshop was to sharpen the skills of professionals using the case method of education and to discuss how to lead the class discussion in a manner so as students could take more interest in studies. Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Harish Chaudhry, Workshop Coordinator, Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi shared that study through case methodology resulted in enhancement of analytical aptitude, communication and decision-making skills.

Prof. Kanika T Bahl, Head, DMS, IIT Delhi and Prof. S. V. Veeravalli, Coordinator QIP; Mrs. Shweta Singh,DMS, IIT Delhi; Mr. Priyank Narayan, IIM Bangalore and Mr. Sunil Gupta, DMS, IIT Delhi shared their views on management education and case study as a pedagogy. They also expressed how to involve students in discussion through case study methodology.

The workshop was very much useful as the participants learnt the significance of case- studies, experience sharing, simulation and role-play in teaching methodology. They were also given exposures to advances in developing human resources and building theories from case study research. There were very interactive sessions, with many queries on utilization of right tool for Effective Teaching through Case Study Methodology.

On 24th March 2013 the workshop ended with distribution of certificates to the participants.
