on

“GREEN - THE COLOUR OF GROWTH: The Business Case for Climate Action”

18th -25th April, 2015

Four faculties from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon, Ms. Charu Jain, Assistant Professor (Electrical & Electronics Department), Ms. Saroj Pamulapati, Assistant Professor (Information Technology Department), Ms. Parul Bansal, Assistant Professor (Electronics & Computer Science Department) and Mr. Amit Saxena (Mechanical Engineering Department) attended the talk by Mr. Richard Verma (United States Ambassador to India), on “GREEN - THE COLOUR OF GROWTH: The Business Case for Climate Action” from 18th - 25th April, 2015, at Taj Palace Hotel, Mumtaz Hall, New Delhi organized as part of the Climate Education Week.

Mr. Richard Verma, outlined the need for Climate action while highlighting the international seriousness to combat climate change. He highlighted the measures that have been adopted over recent years by other countries and the innovations that have allowed reducing the greenhouse gas emissions. These countries still enjoy a strong economic growth like earning profits, developing job opportunities, clean air, and a healthier environment.

To conclude the session, Mr.Verma asked the delegates to imagine the opportunities for clean energy innovation; opportunities presented by Smart Cities in India - a Swachh Bharat; and the openings in the U.S. market created as a result of these ambitious goals. He also encouraged the delegates to do some quick calculations when they get back to their offices about a future where businesses, nations, and future generations must confront increasingly the myriad challenges of living in a world with unchecked emissions of greenhouse gases. He suggested that an alternative must be taken, where each of us take up a leadership role to help address climate change and further go for innovation, partnership, and a commitment to a cleaner future.
