CII 2013

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering industry, Government, and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes. In an initiative to empower the Indian Women and bring them to boardrooms, the CII organized a Conference on Women Empowerment at Hotel Westin, Gurgaon on 17th December 2013. The CII National Committee on Women Empowerment works with industry to strengthen women’s role and participation in the economic sphere and community affairs. The focus areas of the committee are: Gender equality at workplace; Prevention of sexual harassment at workplace and Women empowerment at the community level.

Mrs. Megha Goel, Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology and Ms. Chesta Agarwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended the CII Conference on Women Empowerment. The session inaugurated by Mr. Ramesh C Jain, Past Chairman, CII Haryana State Council & Group Vice Chairman (Former) Eicher Group saw interesting and motivating discussions by Dr. Shikha Sharma, Managing Director, Nutri Health System Ltd and Mr. Ashish Basu, Co- Founder Safetipin. Mr. Ashish Basu briefed the audience about the Safetipin initiative, a mobile app to conduct safety surveys across the Delhi - Gurgaon region. The major highlights at the conference were panel discussions on Encouraging Gender Diversity: The Unseen Barriers and a panel discussion on Making way for the Women CEOs: Harnessing the Potential. Inaugurating the conference Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General CII shared the concepts to be executed for making our nation developed. Mr. Shikhar Aggarwal, Director General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt of India,New Delhi delivered a lecture on the “India Skill Report & Presentation of the Avant-Garde Recognition”. Dr. S.S. Mantha, Chairman, All India Council of Technical Education launched CII Special Publication “Ideating the Skills Agenda”. Mr. Dilip Chenoy, CEO and MD of NSDC expressed that with the creation of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), the country is looking forward to a synchronized skill development landscape.
