ANDROID HACKATHON

Google Developers Group of Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon organized a two day event on Android Technology “HACKATHON” from 29th to 30th August 2014. The objective of this technical event was to provide hands-on experience on android technology manifesting imagination into reality in the world of applications.

On the first day the event was inaugurated in the presence of Principal Prof. (Dr.) M. N. Hussain and HODs. Prof. Neelam Ruhil (HOD, ECS Dept.), the Mentor of GDG addressed the students and motivated them to gain the maximum from the workshop and come up with new ideas for the competition. The invited speakers Mr. Bhoopender Singh from GATE Academy and Mr. Rajesh Kumar from Global Logic Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Bhoopender Singh covered different aspects and challenges of developing mobile applications. His session was followed by an activity in which students had to guess the logos of Google applications. Next Session was taken by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, discussed about the details of android and its basics.

On the Second day, the speaker briefed the concepts of coding in Android for making their applications which was followed by a quiz competition based on android technology. The students Anshul Patro, Vijay Kumar Arora and Bibhuti Bhushan also shared the technical concepts relevant to applications making. At the end student participated in a Competition in which they had to implement their ideas in the form of working applications. Out of 15 teams, top 3 teams were given cash prizes of Rs 2000, Rs 1500 and Rs 1000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively along with trophies sponsored by CETPA Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

The students from other institutions also participated in the event like NIT Kurukshetra, KIIT Gurgaon, Global Institute of Technology & Management Gurgaon.

The event was informative, communicative and interesting. Every participant learnt a lot as individual attention was given to every student during the sessions.
